Triptych Finalist Blackstone WOP Prize. This image is the result of working en plein air in the Central West. I was at the foot of a strange mountain of conglomerate boulders made of quartz of various shades from smoky whites to greys to spots of blue. Upon returning home and researching I found the site is known for its fine quartz otherwise known as chalcedony, said to have metaphysical healing properties by absorbing negative energies and bestowing inner calm. I was intrigued by my images which intuitively seemed to have captured the waxy lustre and semi transparency of the surfaces and the harmonious spirit of the place.
